Hi everyone, is it possible to create a role which can be applied to specific groups or cohorts ? I understand that you can create a "parent" role which applies to specific individual users, but it would be helpful to be able to extend this to an entire group at one go, without having to manually attach to the role to each individual member.

I haven't heard of a role that you attach to a group of people,although when you assign them to a course you can bulk select for a particular role - can you explain a bit more what you want to do so maybe we can find a workaround? Are you using Moodle 2 or 1.9?
We have a similar problem.
We want to create a cohort (team) with a team leader and team members. The idea is that the team leader will have additional capabilities to be able to see the activity of his team members, reports etc. The team leader will be able to enrol his entire team on a course or just specific team members but only for their team.
What they won't be able to do anything for other teams where they are not the team leader.
