List of Assignments Uploaded By Date?

Hello Fellow Moodle Users

I work with a teacher who doesn't use the notify with email box checked when assignments are submitted. She would like to see who uploaded various assignments in a course each day, without going to each assignment. I tried searching for such a report but can't find it.

Does anyone know if such a report exists or how do you deal with seeing who uploaded assignments each day. Please keep in mind this teacher deals with students working at different levels so one student can be on assignment 1 and another student on assignment 5.

Hi Bruce,
I believe a Participation report will work.
Site >Course > Reports > Participation report

Oddly, you have to choose "Post" to see who has uploaded.

Hello Ben

Thank you for your reply. I tried your suggestion and it works if I specify which assignment I want to see who posted. However, we're looking to see who posted any assignment for that day. Do you or anyone else know if this is possible?

I consider this less than ideal, especially if you have a lot of very active students in the classrooom. Nevertheless, here's another idea.

Site > Course > Reports > All participants > Choose Day > All activities > All actions > Display on page (or whatever)
This will display everything that everyone has done on a particular day. An upload looks like

Thu 6 May 2010, 11:28 AM 125.132.40.216 Student Name upload upload D:\demoodledata/547/moddata/assignment/6799/8124/lesson_2_Exercise_1-2.docx

Actually, as clunky as this may be with all activities displayed on page, if you download as an excel file, you can filter for "upload upload" and have a simple list of who has uploaded. So, maybe this does the job?

Thank you. I'll try it and show it to the teacher. As you said, by using download to Excel option, the report becomes more usable.

I thought this would help in my problem but I don't see Site-Course-Reports anywhere in Moodle 2.3. Is the Report function only in 2.4?

Check to see if it appears in the Course Navigation block (usually on the left), under the course name.  You should see the link for participants, then the link for reports, as well as several other links.

Moodle 2.3. Link is for Users, not Participants. Click on that get a list of Users (enrolled Users) and there is nothing there in the Navigation block at the left saying Reports.

 

Could this be something that needs to be enabled somehow somewhere? (If so, where?). Or does it require admin access to enable it (I am mere faculty trying to find assignments).

Just a note that Warren has a separate thread running on the same issue, and I think I've just deduced that his navigation bar is collapsed, which is why he is not seeing what he should be seeing.

We'll get confirmation on that in a bit.

Hi Richard,

I just contributed a vote and made a suggestion. All that's needed to get your report is someone who knows SQL and the Moodle database tables. Then you can use the Ad Hoc Query block add-in/plugin to run that particular query.

I am not familiar with plugins. Can faculty use them or does it have to be installed by systems admin people? (I am faculty)
