Do many of you use notes to keep track of odd bits of information about a student? Or how do you share information and more to the point, know new information is there to be considered?
We have a national course with many teachers, who should only see notes about students in their group. So we have modified the notes code to have group notes, as well as site, course and personal ones. We'll upload the code for everyone when we have done the bit below.
To tackle the issue of knowing when a note about a student is there to be read, we thought it would help to display a list of people to be notified when writing a note. For example as you bring up a new note it would display a list of all teachers on the course and you could tick who should have 'student x has a new course note' sent to them as a message. This lets you know when there is something to read, avoids the need to scan each student's record for new notes, yet prevents information overload were we to put notification on every note.
So ... would you use it?
Are we missing the obvious solution that is already in place?
