heres the beginnings of a Maori Translation - mainly for discussion! - is there anyone else that wants to help with this?

Great initiative, unfortunately I can't speak/write Maori
I've looked at your translation (technicaly) and it seems you copied the en moodle.php an then edited it. This results in a mixed language moodle.php, witch is not a good idea. You loose the overview of what is translated and what not. You can safely delete all the English strings and just start with the 3 this -strings and then continue editing using the build-in language editor (admin->language)

$string['thisdirection'] = 'ltr';
$string['thislanguage'] = 'Maori';

Thanks for getting the ball rolling on Maori.
First, which Iwi is this dialect belong to? (I'm guessing it's Ngai Tahu). The language pack name should mention that (because once one is up the other dialects will surely be following close behind!

Hi Martin,
To get the ball rolling I used the glossary that is being developed by Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori in collaboration with Microsoft. So the current file could possibly be used as a base to work on for all the different Iwi - I hope to continue working on it in Ngai Tahu, however we have a few Maori Studies lecturers on campus so I may be able to work on a few different dialects concurrently, I'm hoping to convince a few to give me a bit of help.....

The Lang pack I created has been replaced by a much better one as part of some government funding by a crew up north!
