Can moodle 1.9 support 1000 concurrent users

my school would like deploy moodle as their learning system, but not sure moodle 1. 9 can take 1000 concurrent users and what are hardware requirement to support this deployment. Is there anyone can help me or deploy before.

Application system: Windows 2003 running moodle 1.9

Database system: Microsoft SQL 2005 Enterpise cluster

Do you really mean 1000 concurrent users or 1000 active users?

You definitely can but you'll have a hard time making it work with Windows.

As Robert says, you need to be very clear about what you mean by 1000 concurrent users. That's 1000 people *actively* using the system at the same time (not just logged in). That's a lot.

Assuming it's true - the rule of thumb is 1GB of RAM per 50 users - 20G of main memory. That's at least two load balanced web servers. That calculation is really for Linux - you would need much more for Windows.

ya, 1000 concurrents users, access simultaneously. But we required the deployment be done in Windows platform.

I think Windows platform required more than 1GB => 50 concurrent users.
