Not long ago someone mentioned on this forum a program which, if I remember and understood correctly, can be used to compare students' voice recordings with the correct pronunciation. Gordon expressed interest in getting this working with Quizport, I think. Now I search the forum threads and can't find the reference to it. Could someone please enlighten me as to the name of the program?

Nanogong is a audio player and recorder, so you can record your voice and check the pronunciation *yourself*. whereas MASLE checks the pronunciation automatically.

It is very likely, but in the long-term not the short-term.
MASLE is being used as part of the entrance exams for at least one university in Japan, so it definitely works. We also know that QuizPort works, so the only question in my mind is how much effort it will take to get them to talk nicely to each other.
It could all fall into place in a month or so, or it might take more like a year. I wouldn't think it would take more than that.
I am in occasional contact with Brian Teaman (MASLE creator) and this project is something we both want to do. Currently it is on my list of projects to consider doing during next academic year in Japan, i.e. starting April 2010.
If anyone reading this thread knows of other automated spoken language evaluation systems, it would great to hear about them
