Moodle deb and rpm packages

Currently, we have complete installation packages for Windows and Macs but have said and documented little about packages for Linux. In particular, there are deb files in both Debian and Ubuntu trees for Moodle and Mahara. Yet for the folks that use Fedora, RedHat, CentOS, or OpenSUSE I am not aware of a corresponding rpm. Perhaps these already exist and I am just not aware of them; however, if they do not exist then perhaps someone would like to step up to help create and maintain them. I know that http://catalyst.net.nz (a Moodle Partner) has been working on maintaining the deb file. It may be a good idea to document these at Complete_install_packages. Does anyone have more information, thoughts, ideas, etc. about how we might facilitate installing Moodle on Linux servers? Peace - Anthony

Just a small correction to what I wrote above about the maintenance of the Debian package. While it is being done some of the dedicated folks who work at Catalyst - it is not exclusively a Catalyst project as others from outside of Catalyst have taken a personal interest in the deb package. So if we have any folks out there are willing to work on providing an rpm package of Moodle that would be great. Just out of curiosity, I wonder how many folks feel that they would benefit from having the rpm? Peace - Anthony
