I just did a cvs update to what I thought was 1.4.  The update proceded smoothly, but only to 1.3.5 beta.  Did I do it from the wrong cvs root?  All I did was to go to my moodle directory and used the cvs update -dP command.  Thanks.

Maybe I have found the answer.  In an answer to a question by Harold Hochwald, Martin suggested that he use the following cvs command:

Latest stable 1.4.x:  cvs update -dP -r MOODLE_14_STABLE

Might this take me up to 1.4 stable?  Thanks

Thanks, Rick; I had the same problem as you, but went ahead and tried the more parameter-rich command and it worked. Tell me, others: how often will we encounter this problem when we update via CVS?

Hello Jim,
Well, I went ahead as per your advice (used cvs update -dP -r MOODLE_14_STABLE).  Althought I haven't had time to check things like quizzes, etc. the upgrade seemed to go all right.  It looks like it is important to specify the tree (I probably knew this, but in the heat of class preparation, forgot). smile
