Moodle documentation: Interwiki linking to forums

Is there a canonical way for linking from Moodle Docs to the forums?

I have been using external linking like so [http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=119016 Moodle Development with git] but I think a more elegant way would be to use what is called Interwiki linking (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Interwiki_linking and http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Guide_to_setting_up_interwiki_linking).

We have a Moodle text filter that looks for wiki-like links. For example:

[ [Upgrading] ] without the extra spaces renders as Upgrading.

[ [Development:Roles|Roles documentation] ] renders as Roles documentation

Thanks Tim, but that's for linking from forums to Docs, isn't it? I was looking for a similar way the other way round, i.e. for links from Moodle Docs to Moodle forums.

It might not be terribly important, but I think those links shouldn't be rendered as "external" links, which in fact they are not, but as "internal" to distinguish them from really external links to other web sites.

I don't think it is a big deal. I just tend to make sure that the working of the link makes it clear, something like
