Links to online bibliographic databases

Links to online bibliographic databases

Hi

How are people handling links to fulltext articles in subscription based bibliographic databases or ejournals?

We use ezproxy to enable off-campus users to use IP based authentication for these databases, but we have to instruct teaching staff to add the ezproxy prefix to all the URLs they create for articles in ProQuest, Ebsco etc

Is anyone else dealing with this issue or use an alternative method to allow direct linking to online articles?

Cheers
David

On EBSCO databases, it is possible to make the permanent article/journal/search URLs automatically embed your EZ Proxy information. This means the student can click an article link from home, and provided they have logged into Moodle, the link will automatically authenticate with the EZ Proxy and take them to that article. Here is the link on the EBSCO support page: http://support.epnet.com/knowledge_base/detail.php?id=1376
