Is there a way to deactivate the download option for videos?

Hello all!

The question i have is regarding the videos in Moodle. is there a way to not have the "download" option on the small menu, on the side of the video?

i read the rest of the posts and i know that there is not perfect way to protect the videos, yes i understand! but i am wondering specifically about this feature. is there a way because i didn't manage to find it..

File embedding not working (Tiles Format)

I think i just worked it out and it was a Chrome setting on my computer which stopped it from displaying on the page when i clicked on the file, it now opens a window with the pdf embedded. Also discovered that to get the file embedded withint the actual course page i needed to change to the Atto text editor as the Tiny editor kept putting in the sandbox attribute which stopped the file being displayed.

Hey Moodle Community,

I am wanting to embed a PDF file directly into my Moodle course using the embed option in the appearance display dropdown menu. However when I go into look at the file it opens a new page and displays a link to download the file instead of being viewable within the course sub-section.

I tried to embed it directly into the html code using the iframe or embed tags and it just displays a blank box.

I am using Moodle 4.5 and have the Tiles format with sub-section.

Any help would be wonderful, I feel like i have tried everything and no idea what i am doing wrong.

Hello there. You are probably not running Moodle 5.3 since it hasn't come out yet. Perhaps you mean 4.3?

Custom Resource with an Embedded Mini-Quiz

I'm hoping to get some advice on the best way to set up a custom resource. I'm running Moodle version 5.3

Here's what I'm trying to achieve:

I have a specific set of content I want to present to students. The format is a series of quotes or statements, each with its source listed directly beside it, similar to this layout:

Source -> "Some quote or text content."
Source -> "Another quote or text content."

After the student reads through this collection of content, I want to present them with a short, ungraded quiz (e.g., 3-5 multiple-choice questions) that tests their comprehension of the material they just read.

Subsections is available from Site administration > Plugins > Manage activities and then opening the 'eye' of Subsections. Do you not see Subsections disabled when you click Manage activities?

i have no options in my subsection setting.

i'm on Moodle 4.5 with adaptable theme (have tried boost theme but the setting still not there)

Role-based restriction to 'Folder'

Hi Seaghan,
There are methods to do this.
1. For whatever reason, a Restriction by course "Role" is not actually part of Moodle core (though the plugin available here: https://moodle.org/plugins/availability_role)
2. Otherwise, while viewing the folder activity, click on "More - Permission" in the activity navigation menu. Then, find "View folder content" (mod/folder:view) adjust the listed roles (ie. Remove "Authenticated User" and just ensure the "Manager" and/or "Instructor" role is listed)

In a course, I add a folder of files.
In the folder settings, I choose "Restrict Access"
Here I see restrict by name, address, grade etc. (see screenshot) - but I cannot see any restriction available 'by role'

1) Is it possible to restrict access by Role (eg Manager)?
2) How to configure this?
