I have several teachers who have separate groups for their classes. They can post a news discussion in the forum but students can only read and not post. I can't find where to set this permission at. My students don't have site-wide roles as students but are only students within certain courses. Is this where my problem is? I have everything working just as I want it right now with my setup except for them being able to post to the forums.

Just checking Susan - if it is the news forum then students ordinarily cannot post to this; it's for teachers to post news items. If it is a regular forum then have a look at Helen's link.
