hi there

what about the messaging system? http://docs.moodle.org/en/message And you could set up the messaging block so they have ease of access.
I myself have worked around it and used a label on the front page and inserted the code mailto:email address.
Like i wrote 'contact us', and created a hyperlink with the text, and the link was 'mailto:my email address' so that when you click on 'contact us' it will automatically open your default messaging software and start a new email addressed to the email you entered in the code.

That's a neat way round it Sylvain, although it does depend on the school having default email software set up for staff and students -ours doesn't and mailto links just give an error message (at school)
You may also want to look at the Contact Form Block, which allows students to send an email to selected teachers in the course. On the latest version, you can also configure the block to allow other options, such as CC the administrator or another person, etc.
Thanks,
