Student Privacy

I plan to use the journal module for my students in chemistry, but I am wondering about their privacy and would like some assurances. First, can other students read a student's journal (without the student's permission)? Second, can I read them without any difficulty? I realize that this is probably true, but HOW do I read each individual journal?

Thanks.

Francis

P.S. I think moodle is great. I wish my university had chosen to use it as its platform instead of blackboard.

Hi Francis,

Actually, the journal module is intended only for the teacher to see. It is not shared among students. It is more of a one-to-one exchange...
- student posts journal
- teacher comments/grades
- student can revise or post more
A journal is only one "page". There are no multiple entries, but the one page can be revised (edited).

When a teacher checks journals, you will see ALL of the journals from all students, in one very long window. It is very, very easy and quick to view all journals and comment on them. I use a template to paste in common comments and phrases.
