Can't install moodle on 1and1

Can't install moodle on 1and1

I have the latest moodle download (v 1.8.2).

I unzipped it and ftped everything to my web-space provided by 1and1.com

Then ran http://www.somnathnag.com/moodle/install.php  (I have removed moodle now )

It goes through the screen - checking the environment

then the screen where it takes the database info.

It starts creating the tables but it gets stuck. There is no continue button at the end.

It looks like it created a lot of tables but it doesn't go any further.

Is there any installation log I can look at ? What information I can provide more to help me out.

Thanks

Somnath

SN,

  1. You could have saved a lot of time by uploading the zip file and then unzipping it, but that's a separate issue.
  2. This post may or may not help you:

There were a couple of Moodlers who responded to that post to say that they still had problems, similar to yours. That's why I don't recommend 1and1.

Peter :

After seeing all the postings - I am holding back from using moodle.

Thanks for your time ,

Somnath.

Hi Somnath!

I don't know what packet you've got with 1&1, but providers such as 1&1, Strato etc set their safe modes to 'on'.

I moved to www.aaahosting.de and have been happy ever since. The provider will change the server's settings to meet your needs.

Of course, it's a little more expensive than 1&1 or Strato - but it is money well spent.

I hope this helps,

Pádraic
