Description

The Viewer 3D module allows teachers to add 3D models to their Moodle courses. Students can view, rotate, zoom, and explore these models directly on the platform without the need for additional software.

Getting Started

You will need to have a working installation of Moodle. The Viewer 3D module is compatible with Moodle versions 4.4 and above. If you don't have Moodle installed, you can download it from the official Moodle website.

Installation

  1. Log in to your Moodle site as an administrator.
  2. Navigate to "Site administration" > "Plugins" > "Install plugins".
  3. Use Plugin installer or Install plugins from ZIP file to upload the plugin ZIP file.

Usage

In a course page, you can add a 3D model as an activity or resource. Follow these steps to add a 3D model:

  1. Turn on editing by clicking the "Turn editing on" button.
  2. In the section where you want to add the 3D model, click the "Add an activity or resource" link.
  3. Select "3D Model" from the list of activities and resources.
  4. Click the "Add" button to create a new 3D model resource.
  5. In the 3D model settings, provide a name and description for the model.
  6. Upload the 3D model file (currently only supports .stl files).
  7. Click the "Save and display".
  8. Show the model.

Default installation instructions for plugins of the type Activities

  1. Make sure you have all the required versions.
  2. Download and unpack the module.
  3. Place the folder (eg "assignment") in the "mod" subdirectory.
  4. Visit http://yoursite.com/admin to finish the installation
