The enhanced choice activity module enables a teacher to ask a single question and offer a selection of possible media rich responses.

As with the "Choice" module upon which this plug-in is based, results may be published after students have answered, after a certain date, or not at all. Results may be published with student names or anonymously.

An enhanced choice activity may be used:

  • As a quick poll to stimulate thinking about a topic
  • To quickly test students' understanding
  • To facilitate student decision-making, for example allowing students to vote on a direction for the course

Ian - Could you explain what the enhancements are? It is not clear to me what distinguishes this addon from the regular choice activity. Peace - Anthony

Hi Anthony, hope you're well. Basically the regular choice activity only allows you to specify text choices. With this activity choices are configured using the HTML editor so you can create 'multimedia' choices: for instance, students can choose images, videos, audio responses, mathematical equations/solutions, etc. etc. The regular choice activity doesn't allow you to do that. For a little bit more background, this development has come out of a requirement from London South Bank University for their teaching as they move over to Moodle. Hope this helps, Ian.

Hello Ian - I realize that this plugin is not specifically listed for 2.5, but do you know of any reason that it shouldn't work? I have installed it on our 2.5.1+(Build: 20130808) test system to try it out. I find that when I include image files in the choices, only the user that adds them can see them. I have found discussions about this exact situation from a couple years ago in various uses (quizzes, journals, forums, etc) that were apparently fixed in earlier versions of Moodle. Is this anything that you have encountered before? Thanks. Wendell

    Hello Ian,
It seems to be pretty straight forward to use, but as student I always get "The results are not currently viewable." before having the option to make a selection. The normal chioce plugin works correctly. Any idea what could be the problem?
    Thanks, Pascal

    Hi Ian
    Your plugin is great.
Is there the ability for teachers/graders to be notified when a student answers the question (similar to the 'Notify graders about submissions' on an Assignment)?
    Thanks, Andrew
