Moodle plugin which tries to overcome some fixed appearance behaviours of Boost's nav drawer in a clean way

Since the release of Moodle 3.2, Moodle core ships with a shiny new theme called "Boost". While Boost does many things right and better than the legacy theme Clean, it also has some fixed behaviours which don't make sense for all Moodle installations. One of these behaviours is the fact that the look and feel of the nav drawer (the menu which appears when you click on the hamburger menu button) is hardcoded and can hardly be configured by administrators.

Please see README file for details about the usage and features of this plugin.

This theme has reached end of life.

This plugin will not be upgraded for Moodle 4.x. Please consider using our Moodle 4 theme theme_boost_union which supports several aspects of this plugin's feature set.

    Is there a way to hide content if the user is not currently logged in?

    Is it possible to incorporate the FilterCodes compatibility with this? Especially allowing the option to use filtercodes conditional statements on menus. This would allow even more flexibility when creating customized menus. Thanks for your consideration!

    Hi
    Re 3.9: Is there any plan to add the 'content bank' link as one of the items to remove from the menu?

    Hello Meg in the meantime you could remove the item using CSS in your theme. Just add: [data-key="contentbank"] {display: none;}

    I copied the original boost theme, renamed it to my needs and made some very light design & structural changes. Now this collapsible boost drawer is not working any more : ( - I downloaded this plugin, removed the theme_boost dependencies and updated it on my page - - - - But it's still not working. Any idea what i also need to change in this plugin to work with "different" themes (not really different it's still 100% boost - just under a new name)

    thanks

    This is a fantastic plugin. Thank you for your hard work on this. I completely agree with Dave, it should be core.

    Great plugin! Is there a way to remove the course home node altogether? I have tried the following:
    $coursehomenode->showinflatnavigation = false;
    $coursehomenode->display = false;
    $coursehomenode->hide();
    Only remove() would work, but of course it also removes the node from breadcrumbs, which I don't want.
    Thank you for your help

    Hi everyone,

    I am trying to install this plugin after reading a blog about it. However, I am having an issue with its dependency. It is requiring block_myoverview to be installed, and I cannot find that from anywhere. Do you know how to get this dependency? Thank you.

    Hi everyone,
    Is there a way i could add custom root nodes for each role, e.g student, tutor, manager and admin? Thank you.

    I just wanted to say that this is the best plugin I have ever used. It's so well written and documented. Each setting explains what is going on behind the scenes which better helps me to understand, especially if I want to do further modifications. Thank you!!!

    I really liked this plugin and found it very useful. Do you know if and when you will be developing for Moodle 4.0 . I'm in the process of setting up the development site ready for next academic year and would like to implement some of the customization that I used for the menu; also would like to be able to once again hide the home page.

    I would like to thank the developer for the great plugin! @Eddie Cottis, we are also interested in getting this ready for Moodle 4.

    In the meantime, I found this code that worked for me hiding the Home link. Add it to Site administration/Appearance/Boost/Advanced settings/Raw SCSS

    /* Hide the Home tab */
    a.nav-link[href="{{REPLACE WITH YOUR URL}}/?redirect=0"] {
    display: none!important;
    }

    Thank you for this great plug, can we have it for Moodle 4,0, also in 4.0 we can not enable the right nav drawer by default which include the login box which should be visible on page load if it can be added as an option would be great smile
