Moodle in English -> Themes -> Resizing help popup logo -> Re: Resizing help popup logo

بواسطة - Patrick Malley
I can't specifically help because my custom theme doesn't currently show the header in help windows. Could you possibly give a link to the site you're talking about - perhaps someone could then see what you're header image is being attached to?

Generally speaking, however, I would not recommend changing the size of your popup windows - such changes would be left behind in future upgrades of your site. I would also not recommend adding a smaller image - the moodle cache is already large enough. I woud recommend a CSS hack to get rid of whatever header is being loaded.

I'll attach a picture of my help file popup window for you to use as reference.

I thought your question was a little too easily answered! Unfortunately, I'm of no help. We use manual authentication at my school - high school level. You may want to try leaving this question in the User Authentication forum:

While I don't typically assign anyone creator rights, I know that all teachers can manually add students to their courses at any time - regardless of whether they are the creator of that course or not.

Students can be manually added to any course through the "Students" tab in the Admin menu of any course page.

Moodle in English -> General help -> Messenger Search Software

بواسطة - Patrick Malley
This is a somewhat awkward request ... considering I can think of philosophical reasons against what I am looking for, but I was asked today if any school has created code that will automatically search personal messages and notify the admin when specific strings of words are sent from one student to another? Specifically "bad words." My district's technology director isn't satisfied with the naughty word filter and my ability to search messeges manually. He wants me to receive notifications of every student who breaks our use policy.

Since I am 99% sure that such a thing does not exist, let me ask something a bit more practical of those of you having to answer to your school administrators. How do you handle abuse of the messenger?

I ask because I recently uncovered a message sent by a student using very agressive, foul language. Following my site's use policy, I turned the student into our assistant principal. Come to find out, it was a good thing I did because there was a real conflict between the students that we were able to diffuse.

In response to this, I posted the following as "News" on my site:

As a teacher, I have certain views on student freedom and privacy that I think should be upheld. I want my students to feel untethered on my Moodle site. I want them to feel free to communicate with one another without fear that everything is monitored. Yet, I understand the need for schools to act when students abuse this tool. Where do you draw the line?
