Hello again Victoria. Just to let you know I deleted your duplicate post because we can continue the conversation on here. Can you confirm you are using an actual student account (and NOT switching your role to student) to test this out? And can you share a screenshot of what you see when you click into the actual assignment, both one with the teacher role and one as an actual student (or test student)?

Hello James. I have added it to that page as well as to Groups and Messaging although do remember that since the docs are a wiki you are most welcome to add improvements yourself ;)

When you manually create a group in your course you have the option to enable group messaging -it is a box you have to tick. As an editing teacher you should have the capability by default. You must remember to add yourself to the group as well in order to be able to use group messaging.
