I think....if you just upload your swf file and then when you link to it in Resources, tick 'open in new window' it should just show the file as you made it - without the Moodle surround? Or have I misunderstood you?

I have no experience of them but it says they are a Moodle Partner and as such should be fine. Many people get external companies to set up and host their Moodles simply because it is less effort on your part - no worries there.
Well for one thing because not all students have Powerpoint so you would have to offer them something to view it with (like powerpoint viewer) and also because it is cumbersome to have to download/open/save a PPt file whereas with a flash file you can embed it or just get it to open straight up. That's my opinion anyway.
Hi Matt
No question is too simple and if you are confused by an answer always ask again. I didn't have a clue about Moodle a couple of years ago and nearly gave up. I agree with the suggestion of going to youtube - perhaps if reading books hasn't helped then following some of the screencasts with audio might.
oh - and I still don't understand a lot of what is talked about in the focused forums
If your groups are doing the same course (say, for example, beginners' English) then I would make one course and in that course add all the separate groups Your teachers will be able to filter the assignment results so they only need to see their own classes/groups. I think if you go to admin/define roles/teacher and then switch on editing, there is an option to prevent teachers accessing all groups - maybe this will allow them only to see the groups they are assigned to. I have not tried this myself as our teachers can see all our classes; they just ignore other groups!
