Hi there. The Moodle updates site is not used any more so that is why you don't see it. Re te downloads site and the traces from AWS, I hear it was temporary while the "under attack" mode was enabled for some time to stop an attack on docs.moodle.org attack yesterday. It should be working now.

Rick - did you have questions at the category level in your MoodleCloud site? I noticed that I didnt have such a Shared teaching resources course on my MoodleCloud site but nor did I have any questions at category level.

Hello again. Perhaps you can export your custom role and try it in our Sandbox demo site to see if it works as expected? A custom role assigned to the category context and with a user assigned in that category should only have edit access to courses in that category and should not have extra access to courses in other categories. I did test this myself on the Sandbox site and it worked as expected. What I did was:
  • Created a new user
  • Created a new custom role based on Teacher and assigned it to the category context with enrol/category:synchronised set to Allow
  • Enabled category enrolments
  • Created a new category "Custom test" with a couple of test courses
  • Created a couple of courses in the existing Miscellaneous category and set them to self enrolment.
  • Assigned the new user the custom role in the Custom test category
  • The new user could edit the two courses in the Custom test category but when they went to the two new courses in the Miscellaneous category they were prompted to enrol. They enrolled and then only had student permissions.

Hello there. Can you clarify please? Manager 1 has a custom role based on the editing teacher role and this role is given to them in category 1? If that is the case then they should be able to access courses in category 2 as a regular student. Did you definitely only give them the role in one category? (It is not possible for a manager in category 1 to also be a regular student in category 1)
