Ok - I have got BBB installed for me last week so I presume it is the most up to date version - there is an option to record but when the session is over I cannot for the life of me find where to playback the recordings. If I click on the BBB link itself I just get taken  back to the session - where should I be looking for the playbacks? I am sure I am doing something stupid here!

I have just been to the tracker and seen several issues relating to this - confusion in the wording MDL-25388  MDL-25387 to name but two. I began writing documentation on Activity backup and  Activity Restore but I am wondering (and very confused!) - why are those settings there in individual activities when all they do is take you through the whole course backup/restore process anyway? And also - what is the purpose of the Restore link in the settings of an activity when it is only going to restore to  a brand new activity anyway? When I wrote the activity backup stuff I used the backup link in an activity's settings block but when I wrote the restore stuff I used the link in the course administration settings because I can't understand the rationale behind the restore link inside an activity that's already been made - someone enlighten me pleasesmile And I am now going back to read the tracker entries properly...

(I am posting here because this is a general discussion, not a Using Moodle technical problem!wink ) I have tended for long to convert videos (such as the wmvs made by teachers on Windows Movie Maker) to FLV. But increasingly with people using iphones and ipads I am wondering what video file format will suit everyone and will still embed nicely in Moodle...what do others use? Mp4?

Could I just have some clarification here? I want users to be sent an email saying they are enrolled in a course - whether they are already authenticated or whether they are uploaded from new directly into a course. I seem to read conflicting views and sense  some people's confusion over authentication and course enrolment   so would someone confirm/deny any of the following please?

  1. Is it possible to have an email sent to a new user when they are created via csv upload and in the csv file it includes the course they are enrolled in?
  2. Is it possible via plugin>enrolments>flat file CSV that a student can be notified by email that they have just been enrolled into a course? There is a tick box to notify students (or teachers/admin) The format in the flat file settings is quite different from that of a CSV file uploaded to site admin>users>accounts>upload users - it's actually FTP'd somewhere and linked to. Hence my confusion over which method is meant to send out the emails - and do either of them actually work?

My school Moodle is www.olchs.lancs.sch.uk. We don't have access to the files on  the server as it is managed by our county. We are on 1.9.10.

In 2009, the wonderful Itamar gave me some code I added to the site files of our school Moodle  and then to a front page block to make the right and left blocks the same width. It worked great and appeased those aesthetically minded teachers who didn't like the blocks not being equal.  However last year for no apparent reason (maybe it was an upgrade??) the left blocks went back to their normal width again and have been ever since. I don't recall changing anything in Itamar's code - I wonder if you , Itamar, or anyone, could take a look and see if anything has changed itself magically or if there might be another reason for this? I am attaching the js file that is in sitefiles and below is the code I put into an html block on the front page. Any ideas? Not a problem but a niggly annoyance!
