A correction to my previous statement:
> i am playing with a MoodleBox on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W with 512 MB RAM. It is responsive to me navigating as 'admin' - through its own wi-fi hotspot!

That is true only until Moodle 4.1 LTS (MoodleBox 4.5.1) when PHP was 32 bit. Moodle Versions 4.2 (MoodleBox 4.6) and newer are 64 bit PHP only. They suffocate in the 512 MB RPi Zero.

Few things to consider:
- In estimating the capacity of a server only the peak counts. If it can handle the peak then obviously it can handle the slack.

- Accurate predictions are not possible. What is a "concurrent connection" for you? How heavy is a connection? How did you arrive at the number 6,000?

Even if there is a scientific measurement there is no formula to calculate CPU, RAM from a given (maximum) "concurrent connections". Pl. see Performance FAQ for more explanations.

- All that said, 12 vCPU and 24 GB RAM sounds sufficient for a site of the size you are talking about.

Generally people have exaggerated the expectations on the usage of their LMS; specially at the beginning. Or, do you expect 3000 visits and a peak of 6000 "concurrent connections" on the first day of commissioning? Likely not - unless you have another Covid crisis. Normally you have time to monitor the stress and strain on the server to predict the future. See Performance for more about those topics.

Images not showing SOLVED by disabling the cache/CDN? Isn't that unexpected?

I don't use one but remember people saying the same in these forums. Then there are others who use them. How does one explain that? Maybe there a setting one has to be set in a particular way?
