Not only sites of that scale, for any site it highly advisable to do a test upgrade before committing. So I assume you observe this disaster during a test upgrade. So postpone the production upgrade.

Maybe it is known only within Moodle insiders: An upgrade like 4.5.x to 5.x is more that a version change, it is a generation change. Take time, understand the (big) changes that happened and the pitfalls before you commit.

Also, as already noted, this sounds like an exercise from the future, Moodle 4.5.6 and 5.1 are yet to come!

Ken, I understand your wish to have stats on your special field (or the most special of the many fields), the hosting. But the answer is not as simple as adding answer boxes.

For one, they can not be derived from the HTTP request (not with reasonable effort). So have to go to the manual part:

where the information is less accurate (than the derived ones in the previous post).

Secondly, this "calling home" is not well received by the (Freedom loving) FOSS community. It goes against their principles. In the Linux landscape, I think Ubuntu was the first to introduce data collection at all and received a heavy backlash that time. That and a series of similar one-sided decisions are the reason why Ubuntu is disliked by many Linuxers. Don't misunderstand: I am not saying the Moodle registration is bad. There are many plus sides, the accuracy of the stats page is the most obvious. But how much is enough? I don't know.

But don't be surprised, if you find new fields tomorrow. I notice HQ shifting heavily towards marketing - more an observation than facts, not keen nor able to substantiate. So please understand if I don't continue in this sub-thread.
