Hi Helen,

Yes, I have noticed the work you've been doing closing forums: another "Good thing" - there were too many.

Good point about the danger of having newcomers posting lots of technical questions in the the Lounge. Maybe it should stay at the bottom so they only find it after getting to know Moodle.

I know you and lots of other do your best to be friendly to newcomers, but... Moodle can be intimidating. Fewer forums helps I think.

Cheers,

Glenys

Hi there,

I've no objection to the Lounge being part of Using Moodle, I think it's a "Good thing", but does it have to be right at the bottom of the list under "Other stuff" the only other forum in the category being "Closed discussions"? A bit dreary. сумую

If I could choose, I'd put it at the top: it's the most newbie friendly forum! No fear of being bawled out about being off topic, lots of funny and inspiring posts - showing the most attractive aspects of Moodle. дурна посмішка

Hi Ian,

I found the Checklist plugin extremely useful for showing me at a glance where all the students were at and also motivating for students to see their progress. That was in Moodle 1.9, I haven't had the opportunity to use it in Moodle 2.

"The Checklist Module is a Moodle plugin for Moodle 1.9 and Moodle 2.0+ that allows a teacher to create a checklist for their students to work through. It is contributed by David Smith.

The students should tick off each item on the list, as they complete it and the resulting progress of the class can be monitored by the teacher. The student is also rewarded with a progress bar that shows how far through the checklist they have managed to get."

Cheers,

Glenys
