Hi Alex,

I just took the shortest mp3 I had to hand: me saying the word "sun". Out of context it's not very coherent, is it? I've replaced it by a limerick.

If you replace it by your original mp3 file, it will play that.

I suggest you download the files on Gordon's site and compare them carefully with yours. There must be some little thing...

By the way, I completely agree with Stan's suggestions for breaking up your test into more manageable "bits". I always remember Martin Holmes' remark years ago: "The Internet is bite-sized".

Cheers,

Glenys

Hi Alex,

Maybe you didn't change the code in the exercise:

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="hbs_mp3player3but.swf" width="150" height="20" style="vertical-align: middle;">
<param name="type" value="application/x-shockwave-flash" />
<param name="src" value="hbs_mp3player3but.swf" />
<param name="data" value="hbs_mp3player3but.swf" />
<param name="codebase" value="hbs_mp3player3but.swf" />
<param name="FlashVars" value="TheSound=track_1m.mp3" />
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="movie" value="hbs_mp3player3but.swf" />
<param name="loop" value="false" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
</object>

and regenerate the exercise?  in Gedanken

I've done this on Gordon's test site : http://bateson.kanazawa-gu.ac.jp/moodle/19/mysql/mod/hotpot/view.php?id=87 and it all works fine (with an mp3 file of mine and a flash player I've renamed to be the same as yours).

To see it, log on to Gordon's site with:

username: guestteacher

password: quizportv09

Hi Judite,

Chris no longer subscribes to Using Moodle.

I've never used QuizFaber but if it will create a Scorm package you can integrate it into Moodle.

You want a more teacher friendly alternative to the Moodle Quiz, you could try Hot Potatoes: it's fully integrated into Moodle through the HotPot Module (scores appear in the gradebook) and the version for Moodle 2.0 will soon be ready.

Cheers,

Glenys

Moodle in English -> Database -> Video in a DB entry -> Re: Video in a DB entry

Hi JF,

As I understand it, the function of the Book Module is to present information to students in an organised way. Text can be written in it and anything that is a web page can be added to it (videos, images, audio files, links to websites) even whole websites can be imported into it. Copies of it can be made and taken to other courses with the Sharing Cart block. If you need a "master" book you can create one somewhere (a course) only you have access to - I assume you are the admin. A Book can have an infinite number of "Chapters" - the little parts of your content. For each course you can make a copy of the master book with just selected chapters.

Again as I understand it, the function of the Database Module is mainly for students to upload and present information to teachers and fellow students. Teachers and admins have other ways uploading and presenting documents.

One thing to keep in mind though, is that the Database Module is a Moodle core module and Book is not. For the moment, it hasn't been updated for Moodle 2.0.

Cheers,

Glenys
