I was wondering what is the safe way of running two or more instances of the same theme.

Essentially, we would like to run the same theme throughout our site--we're pretty sure we've settled on BCU--but would like to have different instances of it with different colour schemes and logos for different course categories. We have the "force category theme option on, but we only seem to be able to have one instance of each theme.

Would anyone know a safe workaround?

FYI, we're running Moodle2.8.5+ (Build: 20150421)

Thanks in advance!

Hi Bob, Well here is how we used to do it:

In http://ampap.iap.aero/grade/edit/letter/index.php, we edited the grade letters as so:

HighestLowestLetter
100.00 % 1.00 % Submitted
0.99 % 0.00 % Not-submitted

Our teachers however would actually assign a number grade, but the students did not see it. When participants looked at their assignment, they would see the following  screen (if memory servers properly, this was Moodle 2.2)

Now, all of a sudden, with the upgrade, this is no longer the case. Participants see their real number grade. We cannot do that (as per the policy of our programme).

In fact, the ideal would be to do the following, but when we hacked the file to remove them, we crashed the module. So if we cannot hide this information with permissions, how do we hack the code to do so without crashing the module?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Thank you so much for this information. I was not aware that the gradebook and the grades were dissociated from one another.

How does one go about not displaying a grade.

In older versions of moodle, I was able to use a customized letter grade scheme but unfortunately, I cannot get this to work in this version, which is why I need to hide the field.

Unless of course you know how to get me to display a customized letter scale...

First here you see that the Course default settings are such that students should NOT see their gradebook. - http://our.site/admin/settings.php?section=coursesettings

This can be overridden per course, but as you can see, in the Course settings *specific* to this course, I also set it to no: http://our.site/course/edit.php?id=22

Moreover, I went to go look at the role permissions for the participants: http://our.site/admin/roles/define.php?action=view&roleid=5

It is “not set” and I know this looks confusing so I edited to see what the setting was, and of course, the box is unchecked:

But participants see their grade:

Are you as confused as me yet?
