Hello papy Daniel.Somrient

Hi Eva,

Thanks for your reply in this forum discussion! I had missed this "Form Settings/Print info about answers" setting!

However, the 2 "Print info" settings available are not the same as the "question prompt" info I was proposing in my pull request. Let me elaborate.

case #1: Print info about answers = Nothing

This is the default setting. It makes it impossible for the student to know the number of expected answers: single or multiple. This makes the offline/paper quiz more difficult than the online quiz.

case #2: Print info about answers = Question type

This gives a hint but your use of the question type name (Single choice / Multiple choice) is in fact misleading and can confuse the student. Actually, the question type is "Multiple choice" in both cases. It's the number of answers which can be "single" or "multiple".

case #3: Print info about answers = Number of correct answers

This makes the quiz too easy for the student, as it gives away the number of expected answers for the Multiple choice-Multiple answers questions.

case #4: My proposal is to make the display of questions & answers (on the questions sheet) exactly the same as in the online quiz, i.e. under the question to display one of the ad hoc "prompts":

"Select one:"

"Select one or more:"

With my solution, the offline/paper quiz offers (almost) the same degree of difficulty as the online quiz. I say "almost" because, if the student does not pay attention to the "prompt", they may still tick more than one box when the prompt says "Select one:", which is impossible with the radio buttons online.

Maybe you could consider adding a 4th choice to the "Form Settings/Print info about answers" setting: "Answer prompt", in which case the online help in quiz edit mode would read something like:

With this option you can control, which additional information about the question is printed on the question sheet. You can choose one of these:
• Nothing
• Question type - Depending on question type Single-Choice, Multiple-Choice, All- or-Nothing Multiple-Choice will be printed
• Number of correct answers - The number of correct answers will be printed
• Answer prompt - Depending on question type "Select one:" or "Select one or more:" will be printed
