Hi Luigi (and fellow moodlers),

Please be aware that all of king marsh's postings to the Moodle forums aim at promoting a commercial software, by showing how it can provide for a better answer to your problems than Moodle itself. This is hardly ethical and is seriously getting on my nerves.angry

Unfortunately, the new "roles" facility introduced in moodle 1.7 can cause a significant performance drop in your moodle site. On our moodle site (university with more than 20,000 students enroled in moodle), it takes almost one full minute to access the front page after identification, and about 30 seconds to "switch roles" within a course. This is due to moodle spending its time doing queries in the database to find out whether current user has such and such capability. Very time-consuming.
For more info, see the Hardware and Performance forum.

Stefan,

1- Do you mean that the following are all correct answers:

  • {a,c,d}
  • {0}
  • {}

2- or the following are all correct answers:

  • a,c,d
  • 0

3- or the following are all correct answers;

  • a
  • b
  • c
  • 0

You must be aware that for any kind of quiz an empty/blank answer is logically equivalent to un-answered question. As far as I know there is no workaround for this except replacing the desired "blank" by a word such as "empty", "blank", "nothing", etc.

This is quite impossible. Why exactly do you need it? If it so happens that one of the correct answers in your Cloze question is "empty", "nothing", etc. then you might instruct your students to enter e.g. "0" (now that I've fixed the zero problem) or "-" or any other character(s) which will mean "nothing".

Bonsoir Thomas,
Cordialement,
Joseph
