I'm completely new to Moodle, so first of all I'd like to say how happy I am that it was so easy to setup (it only took a few hours to have it installed, running, change the layout, and have some contents in it as well!)

I wonder why it took you hours when normally it takes minutes.улыбаюсь

I want a news item on the main page, and track WHO has read it, HOW LONG they spent reading it, This can be seen from logs.Unless you want that the user should not be able to take the quiz before spending at least 'x ' minutes over the piece, there is no need to put the news as a lesson. posting news would be sufficient.

and then have 'participants' answer a
multiple choice question at the end of the news item.A simple MCQ quiz can be inserted as an activity in the desired page and a html link saying something like ''now answer this question'' can be placed at the end of news item. remember: quiz cannot be taken by guests but lessons can, though grade will not be recorded.

(The best thing would be a report showing the answers of all participants.)....this is easily possible if you make a choice instead of lesson or quiz. though lessons can also show high scores and high scores of any quiz can also be shown by adding a block called 'quiz results'. but answers of others may be shown only if they agree to show it with their names otherwise it is shown anonymously.

Multiple choice only allows four answers, I need at least five. says who? MCQ can have any number of options & i have used upto 10
4. Remove feedback to question - I see someone just asked before me, I guess for this I have to upgrade to Moodle 1.7? Yes, that someone is ME. Chris has tested the lesson of 1.7 and has painted this forum red with his sky high praise. But 1.7 is not officially released as yet.

hope you have some solution улыбаюсь

Dear Emilio

Sorry to say but problem is still not clear because of my not asking a clear question from you.
If the system repeatedly asks for the key, when provided with with the key, does it allow the user to enter or not?
this means that students and teachers are disappointed coz they have to  type the key EVERYTIME to use it or are they unable to access it despite typing the key?
Do you think that apart from the admin, the person who starts a thread should also have the right to close down that thread when he feels that posts of that forum have lost relevance?
