I couldn't find any reference to that course format. Does removing it solve your problem?

I would start with a very careful check of any/all optional plugins and themes. Are they all *definitely* compatible and "supported" (i.e. not just used by 3 people and updated 5 years ago)?

You've probably forgotten, but you get the option to change it to something other than 'admin' when first installing Moodle. It's perfectly safe to not be 'admin'.

If there is no backup, you can just download the latest 4.5 here... https://download.moodle.org/releases/supported/
There'll still be an upgrade but it's minor. If you've added plugins then they won't be there.
