Can you switch on (developer) Debugging and get a full trace for that error message, please?

I did some very quick digging and couldn't find any evidence that those extra Db fields *ever* existed. Have you been modifying core code and/or database tables?

I'm reasonably sure that isn't possible.

If you want Manager roles to have access to all course "stuff" but not the site administration functions (that they do have access to), consider creating a Course Category (for example, "All courses") and assign the Manager roles to that.

All your courses will need to go in that category (or categories created beneath that).

I assume you mean the settings page for "Home"? I very much doubt you can do that. The capabilities check will simply be the editing role in the site context. Managers have that.
