You're right - course participants can't post in the Announcements forum. It's for announcements. Clue is in the name.

If you want a forum for general discussions then you need to create another forum.

Enable Debugging in the config.php file, reproduce the problem. Give us the *exact* error and trace.

This is one reason why it's a bad plan to customise core Moodle code. While you CAN it'll make it very hard to help if you've made a mistake and can't debug it yourself.

You can't run multiple Moodle sessions in the same browser.

It's in the **development** area, not the Moodle user docs.

I think it's a proposal for a new feature, not one that exists.
