At first, I thought you were being a bit paranoid but I'm afraid that I'm coming round to your way of thinking.

Eric Eric - if you are, indeed, a real person I think now would be a good time to tell us a bit about yourself?

I can only say that I have a local plugin that exposes a whole bunch of custom web services because I found myself in the same position. I couldn't find a service (or combination of services) that did what I needed, so I had to write my own.

What version of Moodle are you running?

This sounds like you are running an older version of Moodle that does not support PHP 8.x. Which I think is what you already know.

You can probably get away with upgrading Moodle but which version depends on your current version, how many optional plugins you have an so on. It's not an ideal situation.

I know almost nothing about AWS but I do know they have Redis (or whatever they call it - ElasticCache??). Are you using that for caching (if not, you should be)?
