This is a variation on a very common question - "How can I stop students seeing courses they are not currently enrolled in?". Unless something has changed, I don't believe this is possible.
I'm sure that there is a tracker ticket for it but search in Jira hates me.

They won't if you turn off messaging, don't show their emails and so on.

My live site has the timeout set to 900 seconds. My dev sites are a reckless 1200.
