Hi,

Did anyone recently install the latest Moodle 2.7.x Windows package and after the installation, experienced that it stopped at the http://localhost/mdl27/user/editadvanced.php  page? How to resolve this problem? Thanks!

Hi, thanks for trying to help out!

I'm a bit new to Git. As an admin, can anyone please tell me for the initial clone-ing, which server will be faster (git.moodle.org/moodle.git or github.com/moodle/moodle.git), or it really depends? Is there anyway that I can tell which one I should be using (that would download faster)?

Also, I have both Git for Windows and Github for Windows installed. I wonder for this document, should we update it to https://github.com/moodle/moodle.git instead of git://  ??

When I used the Git Shell provided by Github for Windows it did not take the git:// very well. However when I switched to https:// then it works fine. Guess I just want to clarify.

Thank you!

Moodle in English -> General help -> Does Moodle 2.7.x really require MySQL 5.5.31 or above?

על ידי Judy Hsu בתאריך

Dear fellow Moodlers...

Thanks for helping out. We have a Moodle 2.3.3 instance on a dedicated server that we would like to also install a sandbox Moodle instance for Moodle 2.7.x. However, according to the Moodle 2.7 release note, it would require MySQL 5.5.31 or above. I wonder if we stay with our current MySQL 5.1.63, whether that would be OK with Moodle 2.7.x?? Is there any risk associated with the MySQL database upgrade process? Since we don't have a 2nd server that would allow us to do some testing, and this dedicated server has a lot of production live data, so we don't want to risk damaging the data by upgrading to MySQL 5.5.31 (or above) unless it is necessary. Any thoughts or comments? Thanks!

Moodle in English -> Installing and upgrading help -> PHP and MySQL upgrade help!

על ידי Judy Hsu בתאריך
Hi, thanks for helping out.

We have a dedicated server with GoDaddy which is running Ubuntu 10.04 and have PHP 5.3.2.1 and MySQL 5.1.63 installed. On this dedicated server, we have several Moodle instances, the production site running Moodle 2.3.3, sandbox site running 2.3.11 and we are trying to have some more Moodle instances (Moodle 2.6.x and 2.7.x) installed on this server. As you can see with the current PHP and MySQL, it does not meet with the minimum requirement. So we are thinking of upgrading our PHP from 5.3.2.1 to 5.4.4, and MySQL from 5.1.63 to 5.5.31. Here are my questions:

1. Would Moodle 2.3.3 and 2.3.11 compatible with PHP 5.4.4 (or 5.4.31) and MySQL 5.5.31? Would I encounter any problem with the upgrade? Since we don't have a staging or sandbox server so there is no way that we can do a simulated upgrade first before the actual upgrade, so we really want to make sure that the upgrade will not interrupt with the current production site.

2. Should I consider upgrade to PHP 5.5.15 and MySQL 5.6?? Would I gain any benefit to upgrade to the latest and (hopefully) fastest release? Would these two be fully compatible with Moodle 2.3.x, 2.6.x, and 2.7.x codes??

Thanks a bunch!
