I guess we need to add the notion of a folder alias to solve the problem of micro web sites and so on. As for aliases not working for file system repository, I think that must be a bug, as it should have been implemented. Will look into that.

Yes MOOCH is most certainly active, and I think the size limit is very high (around 250M, but please let me know if you have any problems).

New uploads get manually checked by human beings for Bad Things (viruses, porn, advertising etc) so it can take a little while, but rest assured it will get through.  Once we trust you the process is streamlined for future uploads.

I think the phrase you want is 'Web Services'.  Look there for a lot of info.

Basically this is an API that is designed to be secure, maintained and stable over releases.  This takes a lot of time to get right so they are expanding slowly.

Other people are knocking together quick web services (installed as a 3rd party plugin) but it's very likely that they will break in future or, worse, open up security issues on your server.  Check such code very carefully before relying on it.
