Link button broken?

I downloaded and installed version 1.4 yesterday.  When I click on the link button while editing and select Browse, I get an empty file system.  Yet I have the following file.

File BedauWeakEmergencePrincipia.pdf 115.1Kb13 Jul 2004, 07:02 PMRename
  With chosen files... Move to another folder Delete completely Create zip archive      
This is the window I get when clicking on Browse.

In other words, no file system is shown.
