My name is Linda Fitzgerald and I own a training company. I am thinking of using Moodle to create question banks that people can purchase to study for certification exams. I've been reading about exams and tests using Moodle but I don't have any experience in using it so forgive me for expanding on functionality that may already be there.
What I'd like to do is to create a question bank - each question belongs to a particular chapter and each chapter may have differing amounts of questions in it. Students can select, chapter-by-chapter, the exams they'd like to take. For a final exam, I'd like to set the final at 150 questions as follows: Chapter 1 = 10 questions, Chapter 2 = 25 questions, Chapter 3 = 35 questions, etc. Then the application randomly takes 10 questions from chapter 1, 25 questions from chapter 2, 35 questions from chapter 3, etc. The 150 questions would be shown randomly on the exam.
The test also has to be timed, times vary by the number of questions and the type of test.
User should be able to mark a question (whether they've answered it or not) for review and at some point, be able to recall all the 'marked' questions and be able to search for all questions that have not been answered. Users should also be able to go to question 'X' at any time. User should be able to end an exam when they feel they are done, they don't have to wait for the time to expire.
The exams should be scored and a report given to the student that shows the rationale for every question that was missed (show the question, the 4 answers and highlight or otherwise indicate the correct answer and show the rationale.)
Students will be purchasing the question bank for 'X' time and may access it as many times as they wish during that period.
