Working with occasional teachers.

Dear friends,

I want to shear an experience we did at www.fac.org.ar/moodle in CETIFAC (Centre of Medical Informatics of FAC) - National University of Entre Rios and Argentine Federation of Cardiology-FAC in order to have occasional teachers (who are physicians) in our campus.

People need informatics knowledge and some expertise to participate as teacher or expert and develop courses or consensuses in virtual campus. And the appropriate use of software such as MOODLE, means people who have the will and the time to train. It is improbable that occasional teachers accept to learn the aspects of this tool. For those reasons we have developed some adaptations to Moodle routines.

The graph below shows Moodle adaptations made by CETIFAC. There is one General Coordinator and two Directors from educational and informatics issues. The Educational Director works with teachers on courses contents and development. The Informatics Director helps teachers with resources and activities development. General Coordinator receives materials from teachers, makes pedagogical and technical revision and suggests changes, if necessary. After that, sends material to CETIFAC where it is edited and published in private addresses, which are sent to all those who accept them or suggest changes. Finally, material is published in public addresses and teachers and students interact with it.
