With the latest version of questionnaire (http://download.moodle.org/plugins/mod/questionnaire.zip)
I made the attached questionnaire.

To make a test I filled the questionnaire and I downloaded the answers in txt format.
What I found is that even if questions number 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are mandatory (and I was requested to provide an answer to them) I don't have their answers in the text file.

Is this a bug?
Thank you in advance.

Daniele,
When I restore your questionnaire (with 1 answer) to my moodle installation, I note that questions 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 have not been answered. I am surprised that you were able to submit this questionnaire with required questions still un-answered!
The problem is not with the Download in text format, but with what happened before that. I cannot reproduce this problem; I cannot submit your questionnaire if required answers are blank.
Can you give more details?
Joseph

I just filled all and submitted.
Tomorrow morning I'll do it again and I'll update you.
Please try to answer all the questions, to submit and to download to txt your answer.
This is what I did.
Ciao.

PS.- The next 2 days I will be attending the French MoodleMoot in Nantes (giving a workshop about ... guess? the Questionnaire module!).

Enjoy the MoodleMoot.
Give my greeting to Nicolas C. if you meet him.

Yesterday it was too tired to remember to tell you that... questionnaire is where you know and you can try the original instance whenever you like.

Fantastic Joseph.
I was able to reproduce the problem at the first trial.
Whenever you can (preserve the Moodle Moot of course)
go to my original questionnaire and fill it. If you no longer have the address, ask for it.
Please be careful to click two check boxes in the question 3.
Provide the answer you like to all the other questions and try submit the questionnaire.
You will be prompted with a message telling that something is wrong with the question 3.
Return there and select only a check box.
Now submit it and download the txt list of answers.
Please let me know.
Ciao and enjoy the MM.

Daniele,
By following your instructions I can reproduce the bug on your Moodle site.
But I cannot reproduce it with the same questionnaire when it's installed on my local site or on my test site at Questionario sul Mobbing.
Something must be wrong on your test site. Have you tried to test your Questionnaire on another site of yours?

No never.
I go to test it now and I'll update you as soon as I have a feedback.
This let me think the bug depends from php settings!

Test done.
On my local MAMP with:

Apache/2.0.59 (Unix)
MySQL: 5.0.41
PHP Version 5.2.5 DAV/2

all works correctly.

I have no idea about what it can be.
May it be useful to trace out the list of php extensions version I have on the web server you can access?
Please let me know.triste

I am reassured that this is not a questionnaire bug. I would be surprised it is due to your site configuration, but I cannot help you there as I am not a specialist in LAMP installations at all. I rather suspect that something is wrong with your Questionnaire files or your moodle database.
What happens on your site it that any time a questionnaire is filled with missing required answers, then filled with those required answers, and submitted, some answers are "empty", because they have not been saved to the database.
Are you using the latest Questionnaire files available for 2.0? (Probably not, because I do not see the Preview tab which has been added very recently by Mike).
Also I am surprised at all the questions which you have entered as check boxes and where you require only 1 response (you have set min and max answers to 1). If you want only one answer to a multiple-choice question, then you should use radio buttons, not check boxes...

I will try to update the module next tuesday (tomorrow in Italy is the Anniversary of the Republic).
I will update you as soon as I install last release.
Thank you.

Ciao Joseph
you were partially correct
I was not using the last release.
My one was dated May 25 and the last one had a lot of files updated on May 26.
I overwrote my previous questionnaire folder but... the problem is not changed at all.
Can I do something in order to catch it?

There is something more.
Correctly you wrote a suggestion about number of responses per check boxes question.
I went to correct it this morning emptying Min and Max fields.
If you empty them both and then you save... they will be set again both to 1.
Even if you empty only the field Max (as suggested in the help) it is automatically set again to 1.
Try it to my site, to believe, please.
TIA

On my local site if I empty both fields, they are automatically set to zero upon saving, but on your site, you have to set both fields to zero (0), not empty. This might be due to a difference between either the PHP or the mySql versions installed on our servers, but again I am no specialist in this field and cannot give a definitive answer. Just use zero and it will work.

Most probably (to be 100% sure I should return to the office) the settings I use on the web server showing the problem are:
  • virtual server
  • PHP 5.2.5
  • MySQL Support, Client API version 5.0.45
  • IIS 6.0
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition
If you need more rights/permissions/roles on the "wrong" server to conduct an investigation... just ask for them, of course.
