Parent Role and My Moodle

Hi,

We're introducing parents into our Moodle installation, and I've set up a parent role as referenced here:

The problem is, I have our users set to use the "My Moodle" feature, and I can't seem to set the mentees block as sticky for My Moodle. Further, the block doesn't auto-magically show up when a parent logs in, so I know something must not be right.

Is there anything I'm missing, or could test somehow? I'm using Moodle 1.9 Beta 4.

Did you ever find out what's wrong. I'm having this same sticky block issue with both Moodle 1.8.4 and 1.9beta4. As administrator I set a course sticky block, but when I turn around and go into any course as the instructor (editting teacher role), not only does that block not show up in my courses, but the instructor can no longer add the block to his course, it no longer shows up in the Add drop down. FYI, the block in question is the 3rd party Quickmail block.

Never did find out what's wrong. I even tried to manually insert the block into the my moodle page by updating the database by hand, and it still won't show.

Anyone have any ideas?

Even after the upgrade to 1.9 proper (clean installation), we're unable to make the parent role work.

I'm desperate... anyone have any ideas?

Do you mean you just can't make the Mentees block a sticky block on My Moodle? Or is there more of a problem than that?

That's exactly it.

We really don't want to give up the My Moodle functionality for the students, so we have to have it enabled. I just can't figure out how to get the Mentees block to show up on the My Moodle page.

Aha, turns out that was a bug in 1.9. I filed a bug report for you here: MDL-14630.

It's fixed now in CVS (will be in all packages next time they are built).

You can patch your local copy of Moodle if you like:
