A student currently sees the following grade display for a particular course:
Student Activity | Max Grade | Grade |
Writing Assignment | 100 | 70 |
Final Exam | 15 | 14 |
Total | 115 | 84 |
In the above example, the student got a total score of 84/115 = 73% but the individual scores are 70% and 93% respectively. Suppose I wanted the student to achieve a minimum of 80% on each individual activity, ideally it would be nice to have the following revised grade table:
Student Activity | Max Grade | Grade | % score | Passed? |
Writing Assignment | 100 | 70 | 70 | No |
Final Exam | 15 | 14 | 93 | Yes |
Total | 115 | 84 | No |
Of course, having this type of setup would require an additional field in each activity module creation that would ask what constitutes a passing grade in either decimal or integer format. Additional flexibility would be nice if teachers could choose either individual passing grade format or entire course passing grade format. Regardless, it would be helpful to display a true/false column that shows passed/not passed for both students and teacher. This gives both parties instant feedback upon completion of class.
