moodle and education forums

Hi All,

All that technical stuff is nice (and I've got a system of my own) but I also use my moodle system for educational reasons.

Know it's not an item on these forums but perhaps you know where to find the right place.

My interest is the use of Moodle as an educational tool. Making the educational part the prime issue. It's not SCORM or any other technical thing but the education thing, that's what I'm looking for.

How to implement Moodle as part of and educational solution.

Any idea where to find those forums.

Hans.

Hi Hans,
On the Moodle forums page, if you go down to Topic 3 Using Moodle for teaching you have no less than 6 forums dedicated to teaching/education. Is that not what you want?

Display of topics on the first page

Hi!

Following Joseph's suggestion, I went to Moodle's first page, http://moodle.org/course/view.php?id=5, but could not see any "Topic 3" (just topics 1 and 2). After scratching my head for a few seconds, I tried the small drop-down selection on the bottom of the page and, there it was!, "3-Using Moodle for Teaching".

Further exploring showed me the option of showing just one topic or all topics, by clicking on the small rectangle on the upper right corner of the topic box. But never again the initial showing of two topics.

Is the initial, default, behaviour configured somewhere? Does it depend on the theme?

In any case I think that for the first page of Moodle.org it would be better to show, by default, *ALL* topics so that a casual visitor will have a broad idea of what is available.

Regards,
Leonardo

Hi, Hans. There are some absolutely fascinating discussions to peruse in the teaching section, as Joseph and Alan have suggested. I have learned so much from this community, and I am sure you will, too. ངོས་ལན་

I would also like to invite you to join us at the Faculty Room Mentor Forums for additional types of pedagogical discussions on the use of Moodle in teaching. In particular, you will want to visit our forums in The Classrooms and The Commons.

It's free and open to all. Hope to see you there!
