I'm in a situation where I need to decide whether to use Moodle or a custom LMS. I asked some different questions a while ago, to which I received excellent answers. Now I have more complicated questions which probably have simple answers.
Here is some overview:
- A course may contain approx. 16 "modules" which contain lessons and quizzes.
Here are the requirements:
- I need unlimited "groups" to track different groups of users who will be taking the course.
- Users are not self-registering, but need to be manually enrolled in a course and put into a group by a manager.
Here's my real question... Can Moodle do this? If so, how?
- Each user must choose (or be assigned) a "role" (5 total), but this only means that certain modules will be available from the course. For example, one role might have all 16 modules available and required, another role may have only 5 of those modules available and required.
- I could make each "role" a separate course, facilitating my need, but duplicating my training "modules". So I don't like this way.
So, can Moodle do this?
Anyone know if this is a possibility?
For now you need to duplicate your courses. That said, there is a quick way to do that if you create your largest course first. See http://docs.moodle.org/en/Backup_restore
Grouping is available in Moodle. However you are not able to restrict activities by groups.....perhaps a future feature?
