We are running version 1.6.3. I am having problems with page breaks disappearing from our quiz. Question per page = Unlimited, Shuffle questions = No. When I put the page breaks in manually from the edit Quiz page they look fine and it all seems to work well. However, the next day when I go back to edit the Quiz all the page breaks have gone and the quiz is on one long page. Is this a problem specific to this version or ??
This is probably a silly question, but are you sure that the page breaks have really gone, or is it just that the Show page breaks option has become un-ticked?
I can't think of anything that would make the page-breaks vanish. Are you the only teacher working on this course?

Yes, Joanna. You're right.
The page breaks are "gone" but from the Edit quiz view only.
In fact, the preview/or/student view of the quiz will work fine, but it's just that the [ ] Show page break is no more ticked..and this is confusing and weird. If you tick again [x] Show page breaks, the breaks will appear again and in the same place where you've left them.
I often faced this problem. If you just logout and then login again, the "[ ] Show page breaks" disappear...although they are still working in the background. This is why i advice our instructors just to stick with the quiz settings using the "Question per page" to set pagination and not to use the external "show page breaks" unless they really have good reason to set different number of questions per page.
Tim, is there a way to save this setting somewhere per quiz and show it ticked or unticked as per the user's single quiz setup?
Joanna, hereby some important guidelines that we give for our instructors before they use the Quiz feature..might help u: http://staff.aub.edu.lb/~acc/Moodle/MoodleFaculty/MoodleFacTutorials/GuidelineQuizzes.htm

Well, you could save it per quiz, but actually that is one of the sucky bits of the quiz editing UI, so if I change it at all, I will get rid of the need for that tickbox altogether.
Um... no I definately don't have any page breaks. When I go to preview the quiz or use student view it is all on one long page. When I re-tick the show page breaks button, there are no page breaks. Yesterday I put in about 6 page breaks, saved changes and it was all working fine. Logged out, logged back in and they had disappeared. It is only me that has access to this so its not like someone has changed the quiz after me.
This is certainly very weird then. I can't think how this would happen. If you go and look at he course logs, is there any information in there that suggests what might have happened?
In order to investigate this problem, we really need to reconstruct what happened, and ideally come up with a way to reproduce it.
