Duplicating course pages

Duplicating course pages

Hi,

I am setting up a Moodle which will have five course pages for each school year (7 - 11) (one for each teacher). The pages will be in topic format. Each year 7 page will need to have the same topics, each year 8 page the same topics, etc.

Is there a quick way to put in these topic titles (headings/summaries) once and then copy them over to the other course pages rather than having to do the same thing five times for each year?

Thanks.

Hi Tom,

you can edit one course, create a backup and use the restore function to create a new course with the content from the first one. Or you can go to the second course and use the import function. You'll find the functions in the administration menu in your courses.

Hi,

Thanks for your response. I tried using the import function and was able to import labels, resources, etc. but it did not seem to be allowing me to import the actual topic headings (the headings that I inserted by clicking the edit links directly next to the numbers in the topic boxes).

Might use the backup/restore option in the future but unfortunately cannot now because some things have already been uploaded to each course page.

You can't do itin this way with the standard section topics, because this area is in the new course if the import starts. It can't be overwritten.

What you can do? Create a backup. Use restore with this backup file and choose restore in a new course. This course is created during the restore process and these topics headlines are copied correct.
