hi all!

I'm sure this information exists - but I've failed to locate it, so I'm posting this here.

I am trying to install Moodle 1.8.2 on a Linux server (commercial hosting) running PHP 5.0.X. Naturally, I keep getting Server Environment warnings: "Moodle needs PHP 4.3; you are running 5.0.X, etc...".

As a solution, my hosting provider offered me to upgrade the plan and get migrated to a server running PHP 5.2.X. They claim this will solve the conflict.

Has anyone installed Moodle on a server with PHP 5.2.X, and how did it go?

TIA -

Lev

In fact - 5.2 will be good for Moodle 2.0. The same page indicates:
Future Moodle versions 2.0 or later will not support PHP4 and will require PHP5 (version 5.2.0 or later). The local PHP Users group I belong to sees 5.2 as the minimum that a site should be using.

Minor correction, The Moodle 2.0 requirement was recently increased to 5.2.4 due to some serious bugs in 5.2.3.
