stop stop no chair available

For cultural activities at our schools more then 1200 students made their choice for group activities with limited space (all at the same moment?!?)

we had groups with limits set: 30 or 20 10, but ended up with some subscriptions for 34 and 24 and 14!!.

According to the designer/maintainer of the choice modul this is not possible, so how does MySQL handle this?

Hi Ger,

which version of Moodle are you using? - there have been various bugs that have affected this.... - one way is if students register in a course, select a choice then un-enrol in the course. Then after the choice is completely full, they re-enroll in the course which "re-activates" all the data assigned to them within the course.

Is it possible that this happened in your scenario?

also - did it happen to all your choice's or just some of them?

Looks like Andrea may have spotted the problem - see MDL-10085 logged last night!

Well, part of it: our users are normal students. Must go wrong when some users open a choice but hesitate in choice and confirmation...

that "shouldn't" happen - I did write code to check before saving in the db - although that may have been broken in 1.7/1.8 - I'm guessing that's the version you're using?

We did several new runs and it happens again and again: is it possible that MySQL cannot handle the traffic, makes a kind of to-do-list and handles the waiting requests afterwards? (Neglecting the limit-check?)

sounds pretty wacky to me! - Are all your users in the normal "Student" role, or in the choices that go over the limit are some of them assigned to different roles? - eg teacher admin etc...?
